ST JAMES’ MUSIC MINISTRY
Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants, who minister in Thy temple. Grant that what we sing with our lips, we may believe in our hearts, and what we believe in our hearts, we may show forth in our lives. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (1 Corinthians 13:15) THE CHOIRSST. JAMES’ BOY AND GIRL CHOIR The St. James’ Boy & Girl Choir provides a very real and necessary training program in musicianship, spirituality, and community. Formed in September 2008, the program offers children a thorough course in singing, music theory, leadership, group skills in a safe environment that is both rigorous and fun.
The B&G sing church services at St. James’ twice monthly, practice on the 2nd through 5th Sunday evenings which include dinner, participate in small group training sessions as scheduled, and two major choral services during the school year. During the summer, choristers are asked to commit to a weeklong away camp, and a residency.
The B&G is open to all children who possess the desire to be apart of a choir as demonstrated through attendance and willingness. Following an informal interview with the Director of Music, the potential chorister is asked to participate in a trial period as a probationary chorister.
