Our Mission

It is the mission of St. James to seek to glorify God in this time and in this place. We do this in our worship and in our actions. We are committed to strive always to be a community that is founded on the inclusivity of God's love.

Ministries
Altar Guild: Members are devoted to Christ and the Church and are willing to give of themselves to the service at the altar. Members are responsible for seeing that the sanctuary is perfectly prepared for all services held in the church.

St. James Choir: All members of the parish are cordially invited to consider joining our choir. It is a wonderful way to serve God with your time and talents. We also see the individual members of the choir as soloists and are blessed with a number of excellent singers.

Chalice Bearers: Licensed by the Bishop they assist the Clergy in administering the sacrament during the service.

Acolytes: Their duties are to serve at the altar. Many start as candle bearers and train as acolytes. Orientation is held as often as needed. There is no age or gender requirement, and children are encouraged to participate. We also have torch bearers, crucifers, thurifers, boat carriers.

Lay Eucharist Ministers: Licensed by the Bishop, they assist the parish by taking communion from the Sunday or Weekday Eucharist(s) to those who cannot attend services.

Lay Readers: Members of the Congregation read the Old and New Testaments and Psalms during the service. Also, they are licensed to officiate at morning and evening prayer, and in special circumstances a Licensed Lay Reader could officiate at the Office of e Burial of the Dead.
